Dairy-free raspberry smoothie with almond milk

This smoothie is also naturally vegan!

I used maple syrup to sweeten this raspberry almond milk smoothie, but any sweetener of your choice will work. Its quantity will depend on your taste as well as the sweetness of raspberries and almond butter.

How to make raspberry smoothie at home step 1

How to make a smoothie without milk?

Dairy-free smoothies can be prepared either by using some sort of fruit juice/vegetable juice or lactose free milk drinks (soy, coconut, almond,…). Coconut milk is also an alternative, but it is quite fatty so I would add only a little or try using the previously mentioned options.

What you use depends entirely on your taste. For this healthy raspberry smoothie, I went with almond milk as these two pair very well together.

Even though you will get about 13 ounces of smoothie out of this recipe, it is not thick enough to fill you and I recommend serving it alongside healthy breakfast of your choice or for a breakfast on the go, grab some energy bars or bites with you as well.

Smoothies are good sources of nutrients

Take this raspberry almond milk smoothie:

Raspberries will boost your immune system thanks to their Vitamin C content. They are also a good source of potassium, calcium, protein and fiber.

Almonds will supply your body with protein, fiber, and minerals such as potassium, manganese & copper. They are a great source of energy so the more you put in your smoothie the better for you.

Almond butter is also a good source of protein, magnesium, phosphorus and Omega-3 fatty acids.

Maple syrup contains a ton of antioxidants, as well as vitamins and minerals.

Fresh or frozen raspberries?

You can by all means use either of these. If you prefer your smoothie cold/chilled, then you will probably need to add some ice to it when using fresh berries.

Plus, I recommend increasing the berry quantity as the ice will make the smoothie extra thin.

Servings: 2 (13 ounces/390 ml)
  • 1.5 cups frozen raspberries (180 grams), see note 1

  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup , see note 3
  • 5 almonds , chopped (optional)

  • In a blender, blend raspberries, almond milk, almond butter and maple syrup until smooth. Taste and add more sweetener, if you like.

  • Optional: top with raspberries and chopped almonds and serve!

  1. For a thicker smoothie, use 2-cups (220-grams) raspberries.
  2. Keep in mind that almond butters vary from brand to brand and some are sweeter than others. I used natural butter that contained less than 5-grams of sugar (per 100-grams). Some might contain up to 40-grams. This means you might need to use less maple syrup.
  3. You can use any sweetener you like. Just note that the quantity used depends on everyone’s taste and also on how sweet the raspberries and almond butter are.
  4. This recipe can be easily doubled.
  5. Smoothies are best served right away but you can store it in the fridge for up to a day, if needed.
