I know after reading the title of this post, you’re probably thinking: “cottage cheese has no place being in my ice cream bowl.” And I might have agreed with you. Until I actually tried it!

This strawberry cottage cheese ice cream made with the Ninja Creami couldn’t be easier. It only takes a few simple ingredients and a few minutes of prep to create a delicious, protein-packed treat.

Honestly, I’ve never liked cottage cheese. At least by itself. However, making it into an ice cream has changed my mind. The flavor is still present, but the creamy consistency and the addition of other ingredients helps tone down the strong flavor.

To make this fruity strawberry cottage cheese ice cream, you only need a handful of ingredients. Strawberries, cottage cheese, honey, and vanilla extract. Most are items you probably already have in your kitchen, making this an easy Ninja Creami recipe!

In order to make the ice cream creamy, I used a food processor to blend all ingredients before pouring it into the pint. Besides being the easiest way to mix ingredients, it makes sure the strawberries are pureed.

Even if you’re not a fan of cottage cheese (like I was), I still highly recommend trying this Ninja Creami recipe! It’s fruity, packed with protein, and easy to make!

So if you’re looking for a new protein ice cream, grab some cottage cheese, a Ninja Creami pint, and get spinning!

First Time Using the Ninja Creami or Looking for Tips?

While the Ninja Creami is a machine with only 7 (or 11) buttons, it can still be intimidating! Here are a few tips and tricks Alex and I have picked up since beginning our ice cream journey with the Ninja Creami!

  • Can I use any type of cottage cheese? Sure! There are many different types of cottage cheese out there you can try! We recommend using your favorite Greek yogurt (whether low-fat, etc.). That’s the beauty of this machine – you can customize exactly how you want.
  • What should I do if my ice cream comes out crumbly after the first spin? We recommend adding a tablespoon of milk (any type will work) and re-spinning on Re-Spin. Repeat this process until you achieve the desired level of creaminess! We had to re-spin three times to get the perfect creaminess.
  • What button should I use to spin my protein ice cream? We recommend the “Lite Ice Cream” button. Since this mixture doesn’t contain much sugar, the lite ice cream setting will be the best option!
  • Can I use frozen strawberries? Yes! You can use fresh or frozen strawberries. If they are frozen, make sure they are thawed before putting them in the food processor.
  • Do I need to re-spin my frozen yogurt if I freeze it after spinning? We have found the perfect way to enjoy leftovers is to either let it sit on the counter for 15 minutes or microwave it for 10 – 15 seconds. However, you could also re-spin if you wish!
